Here's the deal. I'm on the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK. I have until September 6 to finish a 15,000 word fiction dissertation of three short stories. I've got two of them but I don't have the final story. So from now on I'm going to write a story a week and post them on here for your entertainment. People who are interested can read them, comment on them, and vote for the one I should submit. And then I'll submit it. Simple!
Removed because it's just won a prize, and is due to be broadcast on BBC radio sometime in November (will update when I know the date).

Creative Writing student in need of help deciding what to submit. I write all sorts of stuff but I'm rubbish at knowing what's good and what's not, so I'm throwing it open to whoever stumbles across this blog.

So this kind of thing definitely isn't my bag these days - though, in the interests of full disclosure, I did play Dungeons and Dragons when I was twelve - but I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. I think the reason I liked it so much was becasue it seems to reject the very genre it's part of. Again, you build up a very convincing world - an almost Garcia Marquez-like community - my only reservation would be that this feels like part of a much larger piece - perhaps as a result. I think I felt a little cheated - not *by* the end, but *because* it ended in general...
